Exploring the streets of New York City is one of my favorite things to do. Looking for new discoveries or going to recommended ones, I never stop. This is not a traditional food blog. I don't focus on restaurant reviews, or cooking tips; but I find specific items that you absolutely must try. Whether it be a cranberry donut or the best cappuccino. The focus isn't on the usual, but the cheap, the best, and the hidden.

I am always looking for new places to go! Send me a tweet, or leave me a tip of your favorite place or find in the comments!

Ruby and violet. The literal English translation, which does nothing to explain how good Ruby Et Violette in Hell’s Kitchen is. So I’m going to start with a huge bomb here. Over 100 flavors of cookies, on a daily rotation. Yea, that’s right, over one freaking hundred. This causes a few problems for you, the consumer. None of which being actual problems, unless cookie addiction is considered a problem to you. Arriving early each day is key. I showed up around 3, with three flavors already sold-out. You have to go everyday to not miss one of the over hundred flavors like caramel popcorn or peach cobbler. Of the 4 customers that came into the store while I was there, all 4 were regulars. I just know. Let’s just trust me and move on, k? Glad we could move past this little issue. There was a special that day of 3 cookies for $6, although I think the special is everyday. I went with a peach cobbler and cool seduction. All of the cookies either have semisweet or white chocolate chunks depending on the flavor. Peach cobbler had white chunks, and cool seduction, which is basically a chocolate mint flavor, had semisweet chunks. The peach cobbler went Johnny Cash and perfectly walked the line between cookie and cobbler. The cool seduction was unquestionably the best mint chocolate cookie I’ve ever had. Coming in at $2.50 per cookie is hefty, but PLEASE disregard the price. Bring a friend and go splitsies on 3 for $6. Don’t disregard the ice-cream either. Each flavor is paired with the corresponding cookie dough used to make one of the many flavors of cookies. UNBELIEVABLE. So to sum up this story, go to Ruby Et Violette, and get something. Literally anything.

A place to bring out the cookie monster in you, discovered.

Tip: Go in like it’s Vegas. A woman came in to get a cookie, then ordered three. Then three more. Then tasted one of her six, and got a box of cookies. Its like gambling in there. One more..one more..ok a box!

Tip: Go early. They run out of some cookies quickly.
